Tannenbaum Helpern’s Paul Sarkozi selected for key NY State business litigation role

03.05.2012  •  Press Release

New York, NY — Tannenbaum Helpern is proud to announce that Paul Sarkozi, a partner in its Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, has been selected by Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman to serve on the Chief Judge’s Task Force on Commercial Litigation in the 21st Century.

A seasoned attorney whose practice is devoted to litigating and resolving complex business disputes, Paul has sought to make commercial litigation in New York more effective throughout his career. He brings to the Task Force the experience of someone who has worked at both large and small law firms and the perspective of a lawyer who has represented clients ranging from individuals and closely-held entities to global, publicly-traded corporations.

As a member of the Chief Judge’s 30-member Task Force, Paul will be working closely with a select group of judges, former judges, general counsels, and other prominent members from the business and legal community.

"I am honored and excited to work side-by-side with so many talented and experienced individuals. Together, we are committed to proposing the most innovative, effective and achievable ideas to help parties resolve their disputes efficiently. Today’s business world presents new challenges, new technologies and an explosion of information that, in many ways, has made traditional methods of dispute resolution cost-prohibitive. Our goal is to respond to these challenges by proposing ideas that will ensure that New York continues to be a leader in resolving business disputes," said Sarkozi.

Since 2006 Paul has served as Co-Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA’s) Committee on the Commercial Division, where he has worked closely with Commercial Division justices and outside and in-house counsels to provide support and resources for the Commercial Division, suggest new court rules and procedures that will be more cost-effective for litigants and raise issues of concern to the business community. This commitment to improving the climate for business litigation in New York is one of the reasons that Paul was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the NYSBA’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section at its Annual Meeting in January.

"Paul and I have worked closely over the years – at Tannenbaum Helpern and as officers of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section – on a broad range of issues to help improve commercial litigation in New York. I am proud that Paul and our firm have been chosen to participate in this critical project," said Vincent J. Syracuse, Chair of Tannenbaum Helpern’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Vince served as Chair of the NYSBA’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section from 2009- 2010 and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Commercial Division in New York County. "Given Paul’s long involvement in the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, coupled with client insights gleaned from years of practice, he’ll bring much vision to the Task Force." added Syracuse.
