Elimination of Workers’ Compensation Penalties
Our employment law attorneys represented an educational testing services business that had been assessed over $100,000 in penalties stemming from its alleged failure to procure appropriate workers' compensation coverage. We rejected the Workers' Compensation Board's normal procedure for appealing penalties – which would have taken up to one year to complete – and instead worked aggressively to expedite and resolve the appeal within two months. After submitting our legal and factual arguments to the Board's Judgment Unit, the previously assessed penalties were reduced by over 97%.
