Biography
Maxwell (Max) Palmer is an associate in Tannenbaum Helpern’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice where he represents corporations and individuals in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Max’s experience also includes advising senior executives in securities investigations.
Representative matters include:
- Drafted and argued motion for summary judgment on behalf of employer in a multi-plaintiff discrimination and retaliation action in New York Supreme Court, leading to the dismissal of more than a dozen claims against our client;
- Drafted motion for sanctions in Florida Circuit Court, leading to defendants’ withdrawal of motions for summary judgment in a trade secret matter;
- Negotiated breach of contract settlement on behalf of employer with former employee;
- Drafted pre-motion letter to dismiss ERISA action in the Southern District of New York, resulting in plaintiff’s voluntary withdrawal of all claims against our client.
Max’s pro bono experience includes representing low-income individuals in family court, where he has secured orders of divorce, custody and child support on behalf of his clients.
Prior to returning to Tannenbaum Helpern in 2024, Max served for several years as a law clerk to the Honorable Sylvia H. Rambo, Senior U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Before initially joining Tannenbaum Helpern in 2018, Max worked as an associate in the New York City office of Dentons US LLP.
While attending New York University School of Law, Max served as a clinical intern with the Federal Defenders of New York and as an Articles Editor of the N.Y.U. Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.
