Biography

Charles Goodwin is an associate in Tannenbaum Helpern’s Corporate practice group.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles was the James L. Biggane Fellow at the New York State Senate Finance Committee, where he was a member of the Tax and Revenue team. During New York’s 2021-2022 Budget process, Charles provided legal and financial analysis on a number of ground-breaking legislative reforms in New York State, including the legalization of mobile sports wagering, the legalization of recreational cannabis use, and the establishment of the New York’s Excluded Workers Fund.

During law school, Charles was a Student Honors Program Legal Extern for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Office of International Affairs in Washington, D.C., and a Student Honors Program Legal Intern the New York Regional Office’s Enforcement Division. Charles also held internship positions with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Bureau of Financial Crimes, and the Nassau County Attorney’s Department of Real Estate, Planning and Development.

In addition to his legal experience, Charles was the founder and principal of CRG Global, Ltd., where he provided consulting services for insurance intermediaries seeking to place Excess and Surplus line insurance business in the Lloyd’s of London Insurance Market. Following his graduation from the College of Law, England & Wales in 2008, Charles worked in London as an international business development executive for Pointon York and Voss, Ltd.

Charles received his J.D. cum laude from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, his Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Certificate from The College of Law, England & Wales, and his B.A. from Richmond, The American International University in London. Charles received Hofstra Law’s Gold Public Service Award for his pro-bono work in government. He is admitted to the New York State Bar.
